The angler fish, predator of the ocean, lives in the deep depths of the ocean. Because of this, they have an
antenna-like light that hovers above their head. This elongated dorsal fin, called an esca, is made up of flesh
and bioluminescent bacteria to lure prey towards its mouth.

While studying the angler fish, I knew there were three main characteristics I wanted to include: their teeth, fins, and

The part I struggled with the most was the teeth. Ultimately, I ended up only adding the bottom row for a less threatening and more composed look.
In addition to these characteristics, I wanted to give my creature some much needed personality.

The bottom of the ocean is a deep dark place, filled with creatures we don't even know exist. In my graphical interpretation, I wanted to give the viewer the feeling of seeing a creature like the angler fish and being drawn towards it—to potentially become lunch.

While following the Fibonacci Sequence, I started with two main concept directions.
In my process, I tried to give each word its own personality, a graphical interpretation to embody the meaning of the
