objective
Employing the basis for developing dynamic visual images, compose a non-literal visual and typographic interpretive sequence. Content is to be derived from a traditional three-line Japanese haiku poem.
"Come on now, friend owl,
Change your facial expression.
This is the spring rain."
deliverable
ideation
I knew I wanted to include graphical elements similar to previous projects in Design Aesthetics, focusing on line and plane. Additionally, I chose to include an owl character
in my book.
in my book.
iteration
I played with the way words interacted with the graphics, making everything flow together.
While exploring color, I decided to have a simple highlight color to keep the contrast of the black and white present. I picked a pink for a light and springy twist on the harsh black and white.

objective
"Unlock the door
Let the moon come into
The floating temple"

ideation
During the ideation of this haiku, I knew I wanted to literally present some aspects of the haiku, while leaving others primarily metaphorical.
iteration
After establishing my color palette, I explored different ways to express the words and their metaphoric meaning within my haiku.
